It's crazy in life that we can feel like we're on a mountaintop at one moment and one small circumstance or negative vibe can push us down the hill so fast we land on our butts in the valley. I strive to be positive and hopeful but more often that I like, I let the "less than perfect" situations define my feelings. Even after such an amazing week of real, authentic soul connections I was letting some circumstances control my joy last week! However, I woke up on Friday with a new energy and excitement for the impacts Fight 2 Fight was doing!
We did a couple of quick interviews at Music City Boxing which is always amazing and then we headed over to the Seacrest Studios at Vanderbilt. Always going into the impacts, I try to prepare myself and honestly sometimes try to predict what will happen. This situation was no different. I drove there thinking about the times in the past I had visited the hospital for wish kids and I was a bit brokenhearted. I HATE that any precious children have to deal with horrific health issues but I was hopeful and excited that we could brighten their day a bit. We arrived at the studio and we were blown away! The whole environment that Ryan Seacrest and his foundation have created is like no other. There's such an awesome cool vibe that's so welcoming and positive! The entire experience was amazing! We had a couple of kid patients join us with their families! The amazing part is it's broadcast throughout the whole hospital so even kids that don't feel like coming to the studio can still have a little fun watching. We will definitely be back soon!
After Seacrest Studios, we grabbed a quick bit and then headed over to Magdalene House. I have a very strong connection and passion for women that have been trafficked as I was the publicist for a film called 8 DAYS, a feature film about human trafficking. We already visited a meditation at Thistle Farms earlier in the year and it was a beautifully emotional experience. We arrived to the house and it was automatic connection. The environment immediately felt so safe where everyone was allowed to be vulnerable. Brynn and Josh shared their stories and you could see the immediate respect from the ladies. After story time, Josh pulled out the boxing gloves and gave the ladies an opportunity to hit the mitts! The special thing about the mitts is Josh and Brynn really encourage the people to treat every punch like they are physically fighting their fight. All the ladies that boxed were so brave in being real and sharing their stories. With EVERY SINGLE PUNCH they fought with their ENTIRE heart and I'm confident those ladies will overcome their hardships and they will rise from the ashes. Nothing is going to stop them!
After the boxing, Brynn performed "Phoenix" and the ladies joined in singing along. Clapping, singing and smiling from ear to ear! The joy in the room was evident. Brynn performed a few more tunes and after being vulnerable and putting their hearts into the boxing, music was the perfect thing to end it on a great note.
In the words of one of the ladies, "the champ is here and I'm ready to win." Such an amazing day of deep, spiritual connections and I'm so very thankful!
Keep fighting! It's worth it!
